1330 SAT or 31 ACT. Spelman College awards scholarships on the basis of academic and extracurricular merit, leadership abilities, and involvement in the community. Your application for admission to Spelman also serves as your application for merit-based scholarships. Each year, Spelman College selects five entering first-year students to receive the Presidential Scholarship, and the Dean's Scholarship is awarded to approximately 65 students annually. The Bonner Scholarship is awarded to a first-year student at the college who demonstrates strong academic performance in high school and good citizenship at home, school, church, and in her community. Evidence of financial need is also considered, but the award may be given to a student who does not exhibit financial need but who displays an outstanding commitment to community service. First-year applicants who are interested in pursuing a major in engineering, physics, computer science, chemistry, or mathematics are eligible to receive the Women in Science and Engineering Scholarship (WISE). A WISE Scholarship covers half the cost of tuition, fees, room, and board. Questions should be directed to the Admissions office.
