Carrousel Scholarship Program

Description

Carrousel awards five cash scholarships, to the Carrousel Scholar and four runners-up, payable directly to the students’ colleges in their freshman year. In addition, the York Scholarship (an endowment) is awarded to a student for outstanding community service. Additional grant opportunities may also be presented from various colleges and universities. Candidates must:be selected by their high school and be a Senior at the time of participation; demonstrate superior scholastic attainments with a minimum 3.0 GPA unweighted; demonstrate moral force of character, leadership abilities, and an interest in fellow students and community; provide three (3) letters of recommendation. All Carrousel Representatives will ride on floats in the Belk Carolinas' Carrousel Parade on Thanksgiving Day. Here's how the program works: Invitations are extended in the SPRING to area high schools. Participation is capped at 60 High Schools. Schools that participated in the previous year have priority. There is not an "open" category of participation in this program. Representatives must be selected by their respective school.
