The program includes three (3) matching grant scholarships. The matching grant scholarships provide cash to individual band members and their respective bands. One scholarship is given to a student within the Mecklenburg County, one to a student outside Mecklenburg County, and one to the student whose application is deemed the best overall, regardless of the school he or she attends. The Robert L. Maddox Music Scholarship is given to one individual student who is planning to major in music. Conditions of eligibility: 1. The applicant must be a senior in a high school marching band that is participating in the current year's Carolinas’ Carrousel Parade on Thanksgiving Day. 2. The applicant must demonstrate superior scholastic attainment with a minimum GPA of 3.0 required. 3. The applicant must demonstrate moral force of character, leadership ability and an interest in his/her fellow students and the community. 4. The applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from his/her band director and one other school official or community leader. 5. Students applying for the Robert L. Maddox Music scholarship must meet all the above requirements and be planning to major in music in college.
